Hurry Burry Farm now has pasture-raised, milk fed pigs. Unlike confinement, factory-farmed pigs, Hurry Burry pigs are raised free-range on pasture. In addition to the pasture which they eat, they are fed medication-free grain, hay, corn, acorns and lots of apples. They love the apples. And milk. They cannot seem to get enough of the fresh goat milk they receive every day. No anti-biotics, no hormones, no animal by-product feed, no steroids.

Why pasture-raised pork? In addition to tasting better than the flavorless pork produced on factory farms and sold in the grocery stores, pork from pasture-raised pigs is more nutritious. Studies have shown that Pasture-raised pork has more Vitamin E and more omega-3 fatty acids that confinement raised pork. It is lower in fat and calories than conventionally raised meats, and higher in conjugated lineoleic acid (the cancer-fighting fat) and vitamins than conventionally raised meat products. Raising pork the "old-fashioned" way produces pork that is tender, full flavored, naturally colored and well-marbled.

Beyond nutritional and flavor benefits, Hurry Burry Farm's pigs enjoy a healthier environment in which to live and grow. They walk on grass and dirt, not concrete. They are free to wallow in mud when it is hot, lay in the shade when it is sunny and bury themselves in hay when they get cold. They are free to exercise and play however and whenever they want. The clean and spacious living environment means pigs are healthier, cleaner and less likely to become ill or contract disease. Happy healthy pigs produce delicious, tasty pork.
