Hurry Burry Farm currently has 3 dairy goats, Selena, Rochelle and Bailey, who produce 2-4 gallons of milk each day. In addition to raw milk for drinking, we also produce yogurt, butter and a variety of cheeses. Unfortunately, unreasonably restrictive state laws make it illegal for otherwise intellegent and responsible Maryland residents to acquire raw milk and raw milk products for their own consumption. So for now, we must keep the good stuff to ourselves.
But on the plus side, most of the milk goes directly to our livestock. Chickens, turkeys, pigs - all get a big healthy serving of milk every day. The protein is excellent for their growth and the fresh milk gives them an incredible flavor and texture that you just don't get from the big factory farms. And the animals certainly love the milk. They all come running when they see the milk bucket being brought to their pasture.
Hurry Burry Farm raises LaMancha goats for dairy. Lamanchas are easily recognized by their most distinctive feature - very short ears. LaManchas are the only dairy goat that originated in the United States. They are known as cooperative and laid-back dairy animals with dependable milk production and a high buttermilk content.
